The Vipassana Meditation Center Groningen welcomes international visitors
In our center you can practice Vipassana meditation. We offer weekly open meditations and in-depth activities, such as short retreats and Buddhist studies. All this under supervision of experienced guides and presented in an accessible way.
Every 4th wednessday of the month, our Open Meditation Evening (19:30-21:00) is offered in English. Just come visit our center (Kamerlingh Onnesstraat 71 Groningen). No registration required. We work on a donation-basis (guideline: €10 for an evening, payable cash in the center, or using our ‘Donatie’ button. If you can’t afford that, just give what you can. We use the donations to cover our costs – building, heating etc.)
If you are a non-Dutch speaker, you are not only welcome on our ‘English’ evenings, but also on the ‘regular’ Dutch spoken evenings. Just come and sit with us! Even if you can’t follow all of the instructions, meditating together is valuable. And most of meditation is done in silence anyway.
Why meditate? Meditation is a training of the mind. You learn to deal with your thoughts differently. You learn to let go. And you develop kindness and compassion, for yourself and for others.
The Vipassana Meditation Center Groningen is rooted in Theravada Buddhism and has operated entirely on donations and the efforts of volunteers for 40 years.
